5-Actions to Help You Lead Yourself

Tracy Washington

Executive Leadership Advisor

We are discussing how to be a leader of yourself, on the job, in your home and the marketplace. It is difficult to lead others if you do not know how to direct yourself. Jesus Christ is our perfect example a true servant-leader who governed himself with restraint and excellence. Our guest Tracy Washington is one of the nation’s leading trainers on Relationships, Human Behavior and Leadership.  She states, “Leadership is an influence. Our position is to become someone that someone else wants to follow.”

Tracy works with mid to senior level managers to help them improve relationships with teams, upper management, and customers so that they establish trust and respect that create a culture of profitability and success for themselves and their organizations.  She also runs a coaching program entitled “Executive RoundTable for Women in Leadership” to help women leaders elevate their leadership style.

Tracy is passionate about helping individuals and corporate clients profit by experiencing better professional and personal relationships.  Ms. Washington helps women find their true passions in order to reach their full potential. She states, “A woman that can make things happen understands they have power. Some feel like an imposter, but the feeling never goes away. We must walk with it, learn how to manage it and walk in confidence. “

Her key points of learning how to lead yourself are below:

1.        Self-care is first. You can’t get anything done from a deficit. As women, we give of ourselves without giving back to ourselves. Take care of yourself so you can properly care for others.

2.        Know who you are.  Do a personal assessment so you understand your unique qualities and identity in Christ. Understand that you are more than the roles you play. Take the time to figure out who you are.

3.        Inventory the relationships around you. Evaluate everyone in your life. Are you spending time with people who don’t add value to you? Are they pouring into you are taking from you?

4.        Raise your level of success. Look at the things that you don’t have to increase your worth. Invest in classes, coaching and read to help you get to your next level of success. Look at your finances and be a good steward.

5.        Don’t compare yourself to others. Get a mirror and look at your reflection. Appreciate who you are and where you are at this moment.

Importance of Patience - Growth Under Duress

Importance of Patience - Growth Under Duress

January 6, 2016
Happy New Year Shine & Grind Listeners.
2015 was a year of challenges, but we have crossed another bridge into the new possibilities. The month of January we will discuss growth under duress. I will start off with a discussion on Patience. The following weeks, three dynamic women who beat the odds to thrive despite negative circumstance will be guests on the show. Join us as I interview Ms. Deneen Garrett, Ms. Kimberly Collins and Ms. Eddrina Clark as they share their strategies for growth under duress.
We all endure trails and hard times, but our patience will help us to not endure to thrive. We are warriors for Christ, not merely survivors. Luke 21:19 states, " In your patience possess ye your souls." (KJV). However, the New International Version states, "Stand firm and you will win life."  Our patience is the key to sustaining our faith walk in Christ and enduring to the end to win.
Listen in as I discuss the need to wait on God and hear his voice.  We must stand in our faith ready to hear his direction.  I also share my testimony of the physical rehabilitation my son, Justin endured in 2015 after major knee surgery.  We both needed patience for him to  successful complete his program. Today he is working out independently and preparing for the next season of sports. God is faithful if we wait on HIM.

Leadership under Pressure

By: Angeline Lawrence

Leadership always comes with a price. Many of us will face adversity as we seek to lead others in the right path. However, our position as leaders is a great opportunity for us to glorify God. We must remember to exude confidence and integrity when we are under pressure.

Listen in today as I discuss the steps to be a leader under pressure. God is our secret weapon and if we stand on his promises, then he will work on our behalf every time. Psalms 37:7 states, “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.”(NIV) God makes the final decision, so if he elevates us, then he will watch over us and help us win.

Thanks again for joining me on the Shine and Grind Show. I have a special offer for Shine and Grind listeners for the pre-sell of my book, "The Working Women's Guide to Winning: Defeat Satan at His Own Game with Integrity,” which will be published soon. The book will provide more strategies for overcoming life’s challenges such as workplace bullying. Get started now and receive a free audio chapter from the book.

Love Your Enemies

by: Angeline Lawrence, Host

Being on the receiving end of taunts and bullying can be detrimental to our physical, mental and spiritual well-being.  As Christians, many of us were not built to give great comebacks when insulted.  Christ taught his disciples to love everyone, especially their enemies because he held them to a higher standard of righteousness.

Matthew 5:44 states, “But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,” (NIV) Christ taught them that true faith in God was more than the observance of laws and ordinances.  Christ emphasized the importance of displaying the same characteristics of compassion, equity and virtue as the Creator.  The ability to pray for individuals who work against us embodies great strength and righteousness.  Our Creator bestows His love and blessings upon everyone, even individuals that do not obey His Word.  We must learn to love the people that hate us.

In honor of one of the greatest civil rights leaders in the history of America, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stated, “Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into friend.”

Moving Forward: Life after Workplace Bullying by: Angeline Lawrence

Workplace bullying has proven to be traumatic for hundreds of its Targets. However, Christians in the work and marketplace understand that living Godly for Christ comes with a price.  God can take the traumatic events of our past and turn it around for our benefit. Today, I will discuss ways to move forward after being a Target of Workplace Bullying. Philippians 3:13 states, “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,” (KJV).

We have to look inward to see the gifts God has given us that can benefit others.  Moving past our pain will enable us to share our story of being an overcomer of workplace bullying. Thank you again for listening. All new subscribers will receive a free eBook, "Five Steps to Winning at Work: How to be a Power Player."  To receive your eBook visit the link
