Love with Food: Shine NOW! Magazine Sponsor

Screen_Shot_2016-05-23_at_9_57_44_AM.png

As we launch the Shine Now!Magazine, I had the opportunity to interview Melinda Wang, Marketing Extraordinaire, from Love with Food, our sponsor. The founder, Aihui Ong, a former software engineer birthed her company from a place of compassion and purpose.  Ms. Ong took a year to travel after undergoing a painful divorce. While she visited a variety of countries, there remained one constant, poverty among children. Everywhere she traveled she saw hundreds of kids in need.

Upon returning home, her own friends were experiencing difficulties. One with breast cancer and another with a failed food business. Aihui found a new purpose as she sought to assist her friends. She used her ability to be loving with food, coding and knowledge of the internet to create a food-based company that would also help children in need.

Love with Food is a monthly snack subscription service that helps you discover unique, junk-free, all natural or organic snacks at your doorstep. Every box donates at least 1 meal to fight hunger all over America. Over 16 million kids face hunger in the United States.

In honor of the Shine Now!Mag launch, Love with Food is giving away three organic and all natural snack boxes. Enter to win one here: http://gvwy.io/vieufxw

The company offers all-natural and gluten free snacks in three subscription packages, which range from $7.99 to $19.99 a month. Use the code: SHINE to get $5.00 discount on your first box. Over 1 million meals have been donated to food pantries across America.

Servant or Self-Serving? by Angeline Lawrence

Servant or Self-Serving

by Angeline Lawrence

Today I want to pose a question to the women (and men) of faith that are in the trenches for Christ. Do you need a title and/or acknowledgement from others to fulfill the ministry God has placed in your life?  I must confess that for years I hesitated to work in my ministry because I believed I needed a formal title.  I was given a wakeup call by God one day that changed my life.  He let me know, through the Holy Spirit, that I did not need title. I only needed him.

Jesus, again, serves as the high standard of faith. He was consumed with completing the mission of God, but did it with humility.  Listen in as I discuss Philippians 2:7 regarding the way we should serve God. Are we his servants or are we just self-serving?

Thanks again for listening. Start today by subscribing to the podcast here. Connect with us on Facebook and tell us your thoughts about today’s episode.

I have a special offer for Shine and Grind listeners for the pre-sell of my book, "The Working Women's Guide to Winning: Defeat Satan at His Own Game with Integrity,” which will be published soon. Bridging the Digital Divide in Detroit: Alicia Jones, CEO, Harmony Point CTC

by: Angeline Lawrence

The two faces of Detroit, MI displays a confusing image for those looking from the outside. On the one hand, Detroit is a hotbed for high tech and social entrepreneurs. The city is experiencing a major comeback with new leadership and major redevelopment projects. On the other hand, Detroit still lags behind in the number of African Americans in the technology industry. The neighborhoods lack the services and jobs needed to help African Americans in the city.

Alicia Jones, a certified Information Technology Education trainer is building a huge bridge to help thousands of Detroiters cross over into the IT industry. Ms. Jones is the CEO of Harmony Point (CTC) Computer Training Center located in Detroit, MI.  She has successfully trained African Americans in the Detroit area. Most were chronically unemployed, but as a result of the training were placed in jobs with major corporations such as General Motors.  Listen to the interview as we discuss the transformational training of Harmony Point CTC that has impacted lives.

To find out more about Harmony Point CTC call 313-962-0055. The office is located at Woodward Academy, 951 East Lafayette, Detroit, MI 48207. Connect on Facebook.

How to Overcome Fear by Angeline Lawrence

January 6, 2015
00:0000:00

Overcoming Fear

Angeline Lawrence, Host

In past episodes, I discussed the love God has for us. If that love is strong and without any fear, then we are unstoppable.  Fear is defined as an unpleasant often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger.  It does not have to be an actual threat, but our anticipation of a threat. Fear can paralyze us and hinder our faith walk.

We must overcome the fear to show that we’ll obey the voice of God regardless of the situation. Ultimately, our love for God is shown through obedience to Him.

Yes, we may naturally have concerns when God is taking us through an experience in our lives that is new. Yet, we must obey his Word and follow his voice so that our love is perfect. I John 4:18 “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” (NIV)

Listen in as I discuss overcoming fear.

Thanks again for joining me and Happy New Year.

I have a special offer for Shine and Grind listeners for the pre-sell of my book, "The Working Women's Guide to Winning: Defeat Satan at His Own Game with Integrity” that will be published in 2015.
